The Idea
of
Microbarcamps is just starting.
BarCamps in a sponsored environment are important, to meet people, which are usually outside of the own horizon. The idea of
BarCamps is spreading more and more, and they grow fast. But somehow
BarCamps have their own problems and challenges coming around with them. Sometimes its way to much overhead to organize one big
BarCamp if you have not many people, and not much time, and not many helpers, and no connections, and you do not want to spend weeks in finding those sponsors, locations, and partners. Slowly it becomes clear, that there is a need for smaller groups, in smaller locations with less overhead.
Thats where MicroBarcamps are usefull.
MicroBarcamps can have all, what a really Big
BarCamp has.
- They can still be sponsored by any Company, or just somebody.
- There still can T-Shirts be printed
- its possible to do everything, what a usual BarCamp has
BUT They dont have to.
MicroBarcamps are smaller
- The amount of people should be limited to fit local conditions
- The Focus is to Gather, Share, Discuss and learn from each other
- They are Social Events where REAL People meet each other
- They Spread the idea of BarCamps in smaller groups
best MicroBarcamp Practice could be to
limit the amount of people gathering in
MicroBarcamps below 60
Possible Locations
at home (Basements, Party Rooms, Garages, Living Rooms)
function rooms
Schools
Small Companies
MicroBarcamps are just an idea at the moment, which has to be thought out more deeply. Anyone who wants to contribute just can do it: Edit this Wiki.
The following things have to be thought about
- Suggestion set, to have a presentations scheme divided in amount of people for MicroBarcamps
- ...
Its recomended to have an Experienced BarCamper in the first Gathering
MicroBarcamps can be used to plan any Small
BarCamp, but keep in Mind, that if they Grow Bigger, and if they get Sponsored, they are cutting the Edge to grown up
BarCamps. Than the Name
BarCamp should be used. Lets say Any
MicroBarCamp which grows over an Attendee Amount of 60 is no longer a
MicroBarcamp, but an grown up Barcamp
